Suhailah Sban

Hello! My name is Suhailah, and I have a PhD in bioscience. I am interested in extracting bioactive compounds from plants and examining them as an alternative medicine to cure and prevent diseases. I am also focusing on toxicity tests, invivo and invitro, to assess the quality of the extracted compounds and other synthetic compounds. As a bioscience professor, I have a wide experience in teaching general and advanced histology to graduate and undergraduate students. That allowed me to mentor two prospective teachers annually. Having excellent science-communication skills, I received a certificate as the best oral presenter in IGCESH 2010 in UTM Malaysia and participated in several other national and international scientific conferences. I am compassionate about the community health promotion program as I obtained a Chronic Pain Leadership certificate from Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions program to assist patients with chronic pain to get benefits from the services provided by the centre. I have also engaged as a project coordinator of ANCWT program at uOttawa to help immigrant women who have technical skills in STEM to integrate into the Canadian system. I am very excited to be involved in Le génie au service des femmes: Rethinking the Faces and Spaces of Engineering to give a talk about microplastics. I am also contributing to publish a digital mini-course about microplastics and its impact on marine and human life.
