Dr. Nathalie Tufenkji, a professor of chemical engineering at McGill University and Dr. Greg Goss, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta, have teamed up to explore the effects of micro- and nano-sized plastics on fish, like the Rainbow Trout. They are investigating how plastic particles make their way through cell membranes in marine life. Their research will also give us more information as to which types of microplastics are most hazardous to fish.
